It hold curtains with no problem. I can hold t-shirts on the rod, and barely not fall down, but jeans and heavier items will slowly start creaking and drop down. The bad reviews are only because it shows up in the search results when you look for a closet rod. Most will buy it without noticing the word curtain in the item name.If installing on a window you don’t open & close often I’d say give it a try . If it’s a window that you will be opening the shades often I’d say look for something a little more durable.Simple twist design for expansion. Fits perfectly. It was easy to install and looks great!I've had this about a week to hold up little curtains I am using to hide a storage space in my bathroom. It was a good deal and so far is staying up.My only complaint is that it was advertised as going up to 28 in, but when you get close to that, the middle joint where the two halves meet is so wobbly that you can move it up and down a couple of inches. Doesn't feel that secure.It's also nice because it has a very narrow diameter and I put on curtains that are the kind with grommet holes that it goes through. I had first bought a thicker rod, and the curtains wouldn't go fit on that. If you think you might need this for its maximum setting, I would move up to the next size.A small but sturdy tension rod for small bathroom window. Recommend
